From the Pier
the moonlight reflecting
on the ocean waves
looks like bioluminescent
fish darting and swirling
under the surface.
They make a road,
a corridor, down
the deep navy water,
broken periodically
by cresting inertia.
If I take the road, straight
from the end of the pier,
I might find what my soul
longs for. Or, maybe,
this is the end of the road.
Maybe what I long for
is darting below me
right now, inviting
me to chase it:
to sink or to swim.
