At the End of Time
Ripped asunder, a finality,
Revealing a nest of our eyes,
I am birthed, but baulking at the gift of sight,
And this dirge is dreadful and sweet.
And now, ushered into being,
I can not stop myself from drinking it in,
Its message: warmth as the sun collapses,
And warmth as the universe breathes in.
And so it is that ivy strangles the splintered handle
Of the wooden door, and trees reclaim the wood
They lost long ago to forest floor,
And we are all old,
Here at the end of time.
Revealing a nest of our eyes,
I am birthed, but baulking at the gift of sight,
And this dirge is dreadful and sweet.
And now, ushered into being,
I can not stop myself from drinking it in,
Its message: warmth as the sun collapses,
And warmth as the universe breathes in.
And so it is that ivy strangles the splintered handle
Of the wooden door, and trees reclaim the wood
They lost long ago to forest floor,
And we are all old,
Here at the end of time.
Doubt
Here blackened bread
Stands in lieu of a future
Already spent.
Yet we must remember
Even solar winds
In deep space, abate.
And there is, in fury, great resolve:
A furnace allergic to dwindling,
And not everything is tied to this ending.
Yet your love,
It is not enough,
For you lost the real thing in a fire.
Stands in lieu of a future
Already spent.
Yet we must remember
Even solar winds
In deep space, abate.
And there is, in fury, great resolve:
A furnace allergic to dwindling,
And not everything is tied to this ending.
Yet your love,
It is not enough,
For you lost the real thing in a fire.
