The theme for our winter issue: oceans. What lurks in their deepest depths and their shallowest trenches? What is the language of waves, of motion? What cycles can water escape, and what cycles trap it? Consider how we treat our oceans, and how they fight back.
We encouraged potential contributors to research the following key terms for inspiration: ocean acidification, ocean warming, aquatic hypoxia.

issue 2:
​atmosphere as breath

The theme for our summer issue: atmosphere. Consider heat waves, rainstorms, droughts. Consider where the sky begins and where it ends. What color is the air afraid to be? Question the breath of light and of motion, of sound and of protest.
​We encouraged potential contributors to research the following key terms for inspiration: greenhouse gas emissions, carbon sources/sinks, solar irradiance, chlorofluorocarbons.

issue 3:
ecosystem declination

The theme for our fall issue: ecosystem declination. Consider what surrounds you and what sustains you. What does extinction look like to you? What is being threatened? What is present in your ecosystem, and what is there that can be lost?
We encourage potential contributors to research the following key terms for inspiration: endangered species, anthropogenic climate change, Paris Agreement.

issue 4:
drought deferred

The theme for our spring issue: drought. Consider humidity and the language of fire. What is disrupted in the sudden downpour of heat? What is lost in between phases? How can we understand something better in its absence? 
We encourage potential contributors to research the following key terms for inspiration: heat-trapping greenhouse gases, global warming, crop fire, energy crisis, megadroughts.
